By being baptized a person is washed of the stain of the original sin of our first parents, Adam and Eve, which got them expelled from the garden of Eden and made them lose their state of immortality bringing suffering and pain upon them and all mankind.
Original sin was transfered from generation to generation, the cause of suffering on the face of the earth, and it is transmitted to every new born child, every child is born with a sinfull nature coming from their predecessor, born with a tendency towards sinning.
By being baptized a person is saved by grace through faith, faith justify him and justification sanctify's him, He is taught how to be righteouss, just, how to defend himself properly, how to be perfect and holy.
By being baptized a person is also forgiven any personal sins which they commited before baptism.
By being baptized a person become's an adopted son of God, and member and inheritor of His everlasting kingdome, He now has God as a Father.
By being baptized a person also recieve the Holy Spirit and His fruits such as ; charity, joy, peace, patience, longsuffering, mildness, goodness, benignity, etc ... .
This means that he is filled with charity, the person becomes filled with joyfullness, he becomes peacable, becomes patient, mild and so on.
A person also recieve the Holy Spirit's gifts such as the gift of healing the gift of performing miracles, the gift of prophecy and so on . These gifts may differ according to the person, in amount or quality.
It is by sinning that a person can lose the fruits and gifts of the Holy Spirit, recieved through the Christian initiation rite.
The baptism of desire is recieved by one who is not from the Catholic faith but strongly desire to be with God, do good and serve Him, dying without the opportunity, to be baptized by water. Baptism of blood is recieved by people who die as martyrs for their faith, as jesus died.
